In the early hours of February 14, Eufaula Police Department officers observed a vehicle driving recklessly along South Eufaula Avenue, heading south into Barbour County. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Lamar T. Jenkins, failed to comply, prompting a pursuit.

As the vehicle approached a rest area, Jenkins abruptly changed direction and began heading northbound on the roadway. The Barbour County Sheriff’s Office then took over the chase. Unfortunately, the pursuit ended in a fatal crash, claiming Jenkins’ life.
