Dave battled a rare and aggressive form of cancer, Neuroendocrine Tumor (NET), which later developed into carcinoid heart disease. Despite the immense challenges posed by his condition, he remained resilient and optimistic. He underwent heart surgery on March 3rd in hopes of improving his health, and while the procedure was initially successful, complications ultimately led to his passing. Even in his final days, Dave exemplified the same strength and courage that had defined his life and career.

As the Director of Sport Psychology Services for Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, Dave played a pivotal role in shaping the mental and emotional resilience of student-athletes.
