Ally Moore Jonesboro, AR, Death & Obituary: A murder investigation has been launched following the tragic deaths of British couple Andrew and Dawn Searle, aged 62 and 56, at their home in Les Pesquiès, a hamlet near Villefranche-de-Rouergue in southwest France.
Discovery and Initial Findings
The couple was found by a neighbor around 12:20 p.m. on Thursday. Andrew Searle, a retired financial investigator specializing in organized crime and terrorism, was discovered inside the house, while his wife, Dawn, was found outside near the front door. Reports indicate that she suffered head injuries and was unclothed, with jewelry scattered nearby, suggesting a possible struggle.
Authorities Rule Out Burglary or Family Dispute
Local authorities have dismissed the possibility of a burglary gone wrong or a domestic dispute. Villefranche-de-Rouergue Mayor Jean-Sébastien Orcibal confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide. Given Mr. Searle’s past work in combating organized crime, investigators are considering the theory that the couple may have been targeted by individuals from the UK with a vendetta.

The Searles had moved from Scotland to France a decade ago and were well-integrated into the local community. Neighbors described them as friendly and sociable, often hosting gatherings and renting out a two-bedroom flat on their property to visitors.
